Check .lt domain
The Internet Service Centre DOMREG at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) signed the reporting framework with the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) on 3 November 2017.
LT area domain was created on 3 June 1992 with the help of the Norwegian Government at the proposal of the University of Oslo. The first internet names mii.lt, ktu.lt, vu.lt were registered in 1993.
“Businesses have to understand that internet addressed with specific Lithuanian letters are convenient only for the use in the local market”, – states Tomas Mackus, representative of the Internet Service Centre at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU ITC). He suggest for the business to register both options of the internet address.
The Internet Service Centre DOMREG at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) which is .lt registry, in cooperation with IT and telecommunication company “Teo” installed the additional measures for protection against the Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) cyberattacks. The relevant equipment of KTU IPC will be protected by .lt protection system, as well as the special firewall equipment against cyberattacks from “Teo”.
.lt registry announces the completion of the project – enhanced security of the domain. Registrars creating and administrating their customers' domain names with ending .lt can begin using the domain system security extensions that prevent counterfeiting of the Internet addresses.
Kaunas University of Technology has completed the project – DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) technology implementation in .lt domain.
